The Gem Series explores identity and the many facets that make us who we are.

We are never just one thing. We are shaped by our experiences, relationships, ambitions, memories, choices, contradictions, and the different versions of ourselves we have been along the way. Some parts of us are visible immediately, while others remain private, revealed only over time. Like a gemstone, the self can look different depending on where we stand, what we have lived through, and what part of ourselves is being brought into the light.

Each work in the series is built from distinct geometric facets that come together to form a single, complete shape. For Elena Alexander, these facets represent the different parts of the self. Individually, they may feel separate or even contrasting, but together they create something stronger, more complex, and entirely unique.

Color gives each Gem its own emotional character. Red can speak to passion and determination, yellow to optimism and joy, green to growth and renewal, and blue to introspection and emotional depth. Each palette explores a different part of our inner world, turning color into a language for emotions, personality, and personal experience.
