Color Grid Series V explores how color, line, and repetition can create a space for personal association. The pinks, soft reds, warm browns, and light greens suggest spring, from strawberry ice cream and pistachio to tulips wrapped in simple paper, while the fractured grid keeps the composition active and open-ended. As with much of my geometric work, the structure gives the painting a sense of order, but the color invites a more emotional response. I like that abstract art does not tell the viewer what to see, it leaves room for each person to bring their own memories, meanings, and associations to the work.
